Shoes in History 1994

The city of Zlín has a long history as a center of the footwear industry and on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Baťa company, experts and researchers in the field of footwear history met here for the first time at conference Footwear in History on the 19th to 21th of September, 1994. Most interesting lectures were presented on various topics, for example concerning remarkable exhibits (June Swann: Slap-soled Shoes), the development of footwear production (Zdeněk Pokluda: Footwear in Zlín from craft to large-scale factory production), archaeological finds (D.
